Givenchy, Super Cool

Givenchy Spring 2011 Couture.

i think i'm turning Japanese, i think i'm turning Japanese, i really think so!"

Ricardo Tisci created ten dresses inspired by his travels to Japan, his love of 1950s Japanese toy robots and in homage to the Butoh dancer Kazuo Ohno.

With an attention to detail that is so very Japanese, fashioned with exquisite laser-cut applique cranes and hand cut sequins, each dress took 4000 hours to make.  Rather than walked down the runway, they were displayed in exhibition so that the viewer's experience was, "close enough to touch."

Armani, Super Future

Armani PrivĂ© Spring Couture 2011.

The manner in which his fabrics interact with light was the first thing that dazzled my eyes Tuesday morning.

A collection inspired by the way that jewels and gems refract the light, using a very special silk and nylon blend as well as crystal strung fabric, Armani recreates the effect that cut precious stones have on the eyes.

The Perspex headpieces designed by Philip Treacy are a bit too 1980's modern for me, though they certainly complete the look.

Spring Into Stripes

Beyond the Valley

I guess I was tapped into some sort of fashion collective consciousness as I entered this New Year of 2011 vowing to wear more stripes.

ssense.com has the right idea.

Though I am not loving all of the striped options at ssense.

It seems to me that asos.com has a more exciting collection of stripes.

Here is a selection of my favorite stripes currently available at asos...
